Thank you for coming. Let’s Collaborate!

How We Started

Barefoot Man has communicated through pictures for sixteen years.  Our male nude photography is published in books and most famously our calendar.

Be Part of the Picture!

Images are more immediately accessible than words.  They can appear to tell a more authentic version of events, so we trust them more than words.  We also find them more exciting, more satisfying, less hard work.  We have some experience with this.  Our project has always been about creating more accessible, exciting and authentic images of men.

We are honoured that our work has been reaching thousands of people around the world for sixteen years, and we are interested in hearing from visual artists of all kinds who would like to create images for our project. (Potential participants in shoots can sign up through our Participate link above.)

Add Your Voice!

As much as we believe in the power of image, we have come to understand the need to use our words.    That is why we have created our new text-based imprint, Barefoot Words, as a space where all of us who have engaged with the Barefoot Man project can share our thoughts in our own words.

We want to hear what you have to say.  Perhaps you joined us in our early days as the Warwick Rowers, discovered us during our evolution into the Worldwide Roar, or have heard more recently about our plans to create ‘open-source masculinity’ as Barefoot Man.

We would love to hear from you, in your own words.  We do not want to tell you what to write or how to write it, but how did you come to be reading this page? How you feel about the issues that we are addressing? What do you like (and not like) about the way we do things.

Be The Change!

However you want to communicate your story, we want to hear it, read it, see it!  Be creative, be yourself.  We want you and your words to become part of the change we all want to see.

Here are some examples of how we hope to share words in our monthly ROAR Portfolio and in books from Barefoot Words

If you would like to submit your work to us, please send us a covering email with some information about yourself and your submission, and a download link or PDF of your submission to [email protected] with the subject line The Key.

We look forward to hearing from you.
